Not everyone wants long vacations, there are a lot of nesters who like staying close to home, but they can still have adventures!
Take out a map of where you live, draw a circle about 60-120 miles in all directions from your home. Now LOOK, is there a place you have never been, a road never taken? Somewhere you would like to explore?
If you don’t drive, look up the Amtrak or Greyhound schedule, or if in Fort Bragg, California check out the Skunk Train!
Ask a friend to go with you on your day adventure, if a friend can’t make it, still go on your own.
When you plan it ahead you might be surprised at what you can do.
This is a trip I did in a day, left my home in White Rock, and off to Whidbey Island
(120 miles each way), not all on the freeway, I got off quickly to check out the back roads.
Greenbank Farm was the destination, they were having a guided walk around the property, 1 1/2 hours of information, scenery, new people, and animals to meet, and what goes on at this place was incredible. Art Gallery’s, Cafe, Pie Shop, Master Garden area, off leash area for the 4 legged ones, ducks, even a couple of horses out for a walk. You can even sit on one of the benches just to be quiet. Everyone, and everything getting along.
Did you know that even standing on some places on the farm you can see both sides of the island, what a sight, you can see for miles.
